Guardians of the Bond highlights veterinarians, public health leaders, field researchers, social workers, educators, policy advocates, and data scientists working on the front lines of the human–animal bond. In clinics and shelters, in stables, schools, mobile units, community centres, disaster zones, and global health missions, their mission is shared: to care for the bond between humans and animals, and everything that bond makes possible.
Dr. Geller’s work reflects this mission in practice. A graduate of Colorado State University College of Veterinary Medicine, he spent two decades working as an emergency clinician in Colorado, where he helped establish and develop multiple emergency veterinary clinics. He later became Board Certified as a Veterinary Practitioner in Canine and Feline Medicine.
In 2015, he founded The Street Dog Coalition, a nonprofit organization providing free veterinary care and related services to pets of people experiencing or at risk of homelessness. What began as a small outreach initiative has grown into a network operating in more than 50 cities across the United States, delivering care directly in shelters, encampments, and community outreach settings where traditional veterinary access is often out of reach. In recent years, the organization has also expanded its reach internationally, including emergency veterinary support for displaced communities, as well as ongoing collaborations aimed at delivering mobile veterinary care in resource-limited and crisis-affected settings.
Across his clinical, organizational, and educational work, Dr. Geller has helped advance a model of veterinary medicine that extends beyond the clinic—one that meets animals and their caregivers where they are.
“It is a privilege to highlight Dr. Geller’s contribution to veterinary medicine and to the underserved communities he attends. His approach embodies the very essence of care without boundaries.”
The Guardians of the Bond series recognizes individuals advancing this work across disciplines and generations, united by a shared conviction: When we protect the bond, we protect health, across homes, across borders, across species.
Noble Alliance extends its appreciation for Dr. Geller’s contribution to this global community of practice.
